Howardson Group has appointed Laura Malkin as Marketing Content Creator, strengthening the team behind British brands SISIS (including Syn-Pro), Hunter Grinders and Dennis.
Bringing over a decade of experience in the sports and turfcare sector, alongside work as a freelance sports photographer, Laura will manage the Group’s social channels and deliver engaging imagery, video and written features that showcase people, products and best practice in grounds maintenance. Her work will highlight professional sport, grassroots clubs, contractors and local authorities, ensuring diverse stories are shared across the industry.
Laura said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to join Howardson Group. In my first weeks the team has been incredibly welcoming and it already feels like home. Social media has a unique power to connect our industry, shining a light on the work of grounds teams and showing how SISIS, Hunter Grinders and Dennis equipment performs day-to-day.”
She added: “We’ve already seen strong engagement with behind-the-scenes stories from our Derby factory. I’ll be building on that, documenting how our British-made products are built and, importantly, getting out on site to share the stories of the grounds people who bring pitches and surfaces to life.”
Darren McMahon, Head of Marketing, commented:
“Laura blends technical understanding with creative storytelling. Her focus is to celebrate the people who use our equipment and to share practical insights that help the whole community. It’s a natural fit for a family-owned British manufacturer committed to long-term support.”
A keen cricketer and footballer, Laura brings first-hand appreciation of sports surfaces and the role they play. Her background includes hands-on experience with cylinder mowers and turfcare machinery, ensuring content is both authentic and accurate.
'' I played county cricket growing up and have been lucky to play at venues all over the UK including world class facilities such as the Utilita Bowl in Hampshire. I spent two winters out in Australia playing club cricket over there and have experienced first hand the work the grounds teams do to get the games on in all conditions whether it be 40c in Australia or 8c in England. Although it is growing, there is limited media attention on grounds teams and the challenges they face so my aim is to cover as many stories as possible from a variety of different sports. I have worked in the cylinder mower industry for 11 years now and have gained great knowledge of the challenge grounds people face in turfcare and their journeys from apprentice grounds people to head grounds person at famous sporting venues. I am exciting to cover as many stories as possible over the coming years''.
