For the past two decades, Berewood Grass Machinery Limited has proudly served as a trusted dealer for Dennis Mowers. Nigel Cornwell, Managing Director of Berewood Grass Machinery, reflects on the journey that led to this achievement.

"I felt confident that I could run a Dennis dealership in Essex," Nigel recalls after discussions with Robert Jack from the Howardson Group. This move marked the beginning of a fruitful partnership built on trust and shared values.

Berewood Grass Machinery quickly distinguished itself in the market with its commitment to reliable service and customer care. Nigel emphasises their belief in "good old-fashioned service," a quality that resonated with clients.

The turning point came with a significant deal secured with a Premiership football club during the construction of their new stadium. "We secured a deal which saw us supply all their machinery which included a fleet of Dennis G860 cylinder mowers. That was my first big deal and really helped to put me on the road to where I am now," Nigel recalls, highlighting the pivotal role it played in establishing their reputation as a reliable supplier for professional sports clubs.

As the Howardson Group evolved, expanding their offerings and acquiring additional brands, Berewood Grass Machinery adapted to meet the changing needs of its clientele. “I have seen some changes over the years, and it has been great to see the company go from strength to strength and acquire more brands such as SISIS, Lloyds and Hunter Grinders. The vision of the company is very impressive.”

Nigel also notes the growing importance of SISIS equipment in the business, particularly due to its specialisation and versatility. “The SISIS equipment has been very beneficial to my business, and I probably supply more of this brand to customers than anything else.”

Beyond business success, Nigel acknowledges the crucial support provided by associations in facilitating machinery purchases for smaller clubs through grants. This assistance has been instrumental in helping local clubs access necessary equipment.

Looking to the future, Nigel embraces the industry's shift towards electric-powered machinery, recognising its potential to attract younger demographics. "Electric will play a big part in the future of the industry," Nigel predicts, citing its appeal due to reduced environmental impact and simplicity of operation.

As Berewood Grass Machinery commemorates two decades as a Dennis dealer, Nigel's reflections highlight the practical strengths of their partnership, grounded in reliability, adaptability, and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of their clientele.
